This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Concepting Design Engineer, looking for a challenging automation design and projects role. This position is based near Southampton, Hampshire with some visits to customer sites throughout the UK.

Salary

£30,000 - £40,000 plus paid overtime and annual profit related bonus DOE

Key Responsibilities

You will report to the Engineering Manager and be involved in all aspects of mechanical engineering throughout the project cycle from concepting to installation to ensure that concept designs are converted to automation solutions - on time and to budget. This role will include mechanical concepting of Robotic Automation Equipment and Fixturing using 3D Modeling, handling customer design review meetings, overseeing the in-house detailed design, liaising with sub-contractors for the fabrication and machining of those deigns, procurement of mechanical bought in parts along with providing technical guidance and support to the System Build Team.

Required Skills and Experience

Proven experience of mechanical concepting of automation equipment is essential. You must be able to come up with innovative but practical design ideas to solve engineering problems whilst at the same time meeting customer requirements and budget constraints. Knowledge of robot fixture design, welding and handling applications would be a distinct advantage.

A Mechanical Engineering degree is desirable along with proven CAD experience, preferably AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.

You must be conversant with British technical and legislative standards and have the ability to produce design calculations. You will be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills along with the ability to work within a multi-disciplined team. A good appreciation of electrical control systems would be a distinct advantage. You will also be familiar with machining, other metal manufacturing techniques including welded fabrications and mechanical assembly methods.
