Job Description

This is a varied and challenging career opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Robot System Build Team with an opportunity to gain additional skills in the field of Robotic Engineering. This position is based near Southampton, Hampshire with some visits to customer sites throughout the UK.

Salary

£20,000 - £28,000 DOE plus paid overtime and annual profit related bonus

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Fitter you will play an integral part of the system build team responsible for:
Mechanical assembly of Robot Systems from engineering drawings
Precision assembly of Robot Fixturing
Set-up and alignment of Welding Jigs and Fixtures to achieve dimensional tolerances and product capability
Mechanical machine modifications
On-site installations
Maintenance and development of company expertise in mechanical engineering techniques
Provision of mentoring and guidance to junior team members
An opportunity to learn robot programming

Required Skills and Experience

As a Mechanical Fitter it is essential that you have a solid engineering background with mechanical fitting skills and close tolerance assembly skills gained in an industrial machine build environment. Ideally you will have experience of assembly and set-up of welding jigs and fixtures. You must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer product drawings and geometric tolerancing. You will have the ability to operate conventional machine tools including lathes, milling machines, band saws, grinders and hand tools as appropriate.

Qualifications for this Mechanical Fitter role will include a minimum of four GCSE's grades A - C (or equivalent) along with recognised City and Guilds, BTEC or NVQ qualifications. You should also have completed a time served mechanical apprenticeship.
