The Opportunity

This opportunity will ideally suit an enthusiastic, highly motivated, energetic self-starter with an appetite for learning and a can-do attitude with a passion for how things work.  The position is office based in Southampton and site based throughout the UK and Ireland.  Initially during your training, you will support the customer service engineers with robotic welding trials, robot system servicing/reports, breakdowns and electrical and mechanical system build and installation.  You will be required to progress quickly through the training phases.  The position is best suited to an individual who is practical orientated and has a passion for engineering and is flexible to travel to customers sites at short notice.

  • Be willing to travel and stay away from home to support customers (typically 50% office based, 50% site based)


The apprenticeship is competency led and will be completed when the standards set by pre-determined National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) - Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering are met, usually three years.

Key Accountabilities

  • To undertake a range of tasks suited to the current level of training and development.
  • To attend college and complete course work on time and to a high standard.
  • To produce, maintain and be responsible for content, accuracy and sign off on logbooks.
  • To take on additional responsibilities in years 2 & 3 of Apprenticeship.
  • To understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.
  • To understand and comply with policies and procedures.
  • To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner.
  • To comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • To attend and fully participate regular training and development reviews.
  • To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required.

From day one you will be working within a team with real responsibilities, and you will be encouraged to develop your technical skills through various on-the-job learning experiences.  You will be supported by a small but hugely experienced multi-disciplined team of engineers.

Our Requirements

You must hold 5 GCSE’s graded 5 and above, including English, Maths and Science.

This role is customer facing, and therefore you will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  You will also need to be self-motivated and be able to demonstrate why you believe you are strongly suited to this role.

As there will be a requirement to visit customer sites, a full UK driving licence will be essential.  It is a prerequisite that all candidates have the right to live and work in the UK on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
